Quality/Performance option: Yes

Played entirely in Quality mode.
Played a mix of handheld and docked. Also used the Switch 1 pro controller in both instances, which worked flawlessly in-game.
Completed main campaign (Nomad ending) and DLC campaign (helped Songbird till the end).
Completed about 40-50 % of all side content.

Overall verdict: It is generally impressive how well the game runs for the most part, but a long list of issues prevents a better rating. Apart from the performance drops when a lot of particle effects are present on screen, nothing takes away from the experience too much, yet you will inevitably notice a few shortcomings and leftovers from it’s rather disastrous release.

- Pop-in of textures and semi-distant objects is constant and noticeable, yet not too distracting.

- Despite activating the setting, gyro aim does not work. You can still aim via mouse controls during that mode, though.

- Icons for items in your inventory can disappear. Usually fixed at any restart of the game.

- Encountered several instances where light reflections were flickering instead of constant reflections. Noticeable in the Arasaka Tower in the bar on the two tables full of champagne glasses. Also encountered the same oddity in free roam with several street lamps across a bridge near Japantown, e.g.

- Entering a new area and autosaving always causes a brief stutter.

- Observed a couple of instances where items were floating in mid air.

- In the final stages of the game, we encountered a handful of instances where a gun would randomly snap-aim to random place. Only happened after gunfights, so it didn’t impact the game.

- Encountered an item near the box promoter in V’s apartment complex that couldn’t be interacted with. Instead, looking at it would always prompt the dialogue menu for the box promoter.

- Encountered a missing voice line when meeting Evelyn for the first time in the club.

- Right before entering the Arasaka Tower, instead of V being animated properly, the Delamain car moves while V is fixed in position during her animation of getting out of the car.

- When entering her former camp with Panam, one of her voice lines plays twice. After retrieving her vehicle during the same mission, when reuniting with her, the car is spawned in the air and will drop several stories to the ground after Panam takes the wheel.

- After capturing Hellman, we could observe heavy flickering in the scene before leaving the gas station. It looked like textures were popping up for brief moments in mid air. This issue was observed more frequently in performance mode while playing through another copy of the game. It was the first time we discovered this in Quality mode during this particular playthrough here, though.

- Experienced two console crashes during the mission “Riders on the Storm”. Likely due to particle effects being too taxing. The specific part played during a sandstorm.

- During the mission “The Hunt”, while you search Randy’s trailer, two of the clues respawn endlessly, always a few seconds after picking them up.

- During a side gig for Hands, the final showdown was meant to go peacefully, but upon leaving the area the two NPCs we were helping got in their car and drove straight through the scene, running over us and the opposing enemy in the process. This triggered an unwanted gunfight. Might be the intended outcome, but it could be a bug just as likely.

- Driving through Dogtown by vehicle brings the game to its knees framerate wise. Definitely below 20 FPS, maybe single digits for brief moments. Driving through downtown Night City runs rather smoothly in comparison, despite a lot of light sources and reflections. Dogtown is the one spot of the map where performance is noticeably worse compared to the rest. Likely due to the same reason as in “Riders on the Storm”.

- While waiting on the call from Reed before "Birds With Broken Wings" the fast travel system stopped working. And despite waiting two days, the call from Reed wouldn't come. Restarting the game fixed the travel system and prompted the call eventually.
