Tested by Community Report on Base PS5
Completely playable offline with no download required. However, various issues occur enough throughout the experience that updating would be recommended. Utilized default settings except for switching from 'Pretty' (Quality) to 'Performance' visuals & disabling subtitles. Finished main story with just one of the secret levels ('Jaws') done for reference. Attempted trophies unlocked without apparent trouble. Please note more problems occurred than documented below in the report.
-- Encountered three crashes over the whole adventure. During the opening Eddy boss fight while using Nauls from 'The Thing,' loading the factory hub from the first level of 'Battlestar Galactica,' & while crossing the bridge during the penultimate level for the 'Masters of the Universe' world.
-- Almost all of the character vocal grunts during cutscenes appear to be absent. Only a handful of the Eddy backstory cutscenes had any sound whatsoever. Fanfare music for level completion will continue into subsequent cutscenes if the player moves past the results screen before it finishes.
-- Reoccurring phenomenon where sound will either disappear completely or drop down to minimal actions (ex. slam attacks). Sometimes the problem would last from 10-to-30 seconds before gradually shifting back during gameplay although a number of occasions appear to have been seemingly permanent until a cutscene, excess combat, factory hub load or game restart would fix it.
-- Based on walkthrough videos, several NPC characters are supposed to appear throughout levels to provide hints toward tackling certain objectives. While some do exist, not all of them appear in the disc build so the player will have to stumble around more so than usual for several tasks without markers. Sometimes picking up an upgrade icon will cause the vending machine marker to ping the closest location that might be behind progress-locked doors.
-- Platform that requests 35 golden crowns in the factory hub to access the final boss area was invisible despite the numerical info. Was still able to access it once all story worlds were finished with the aforementioned quantity.
-- Various instances of enemy pop-in (ex. dogs running down the halls in 'The Thing' levels), framerate stutter (ex. third level of the 'Umbrella Academy' world), partially incomplete cutscenes (ex. no visual explosion for Outpost 31 in 'The Thing' finale, entire town miniature in several of the last 'Hot Fuzz' cutscenes, shark explosion in the secret 'Jaws' level, etc.) & additional missing sounds (ex. dogs barking in the kennel as MacReady sounds the alarm in 'The Thing' world, etc).
-- During the Blair-Thing boss fight, a dog enemy spawned early in battle that appeared to intentionally have infinite health as hitting it would bring up "!!" instead of hit points. Contended with it throughout the whole encounter although the dog can sometimes be sidelined when taken to the starting portion of the level upstairs.
-- During the opening 'Hot Fuzz' level, various insignificant NPCs can spawn in awkward areas. Simon Skinner has an additional sideways speech that drifts inside his model.
-- During the second 'JW' level, two hard-locks happened where one caged Raptor disappeared after tagging along before reaching the drop-off site & accessing one of the health machines failed to load its menu that kept the player from exiting back into the gameplay. Restarting levels corrected these issues.
-- During the third 'Umbrella Academy' level, a hard-lock occurred where the enemy character in a force field would become inactive once all other clues were found before defeating her. While propane canisters do deal damage, she appeared to be invincible. Restarting the level fixed the issue although it's recommended to defeat her first before anything else is attempted.
-- During the second 'He-Man' level, several of the portal doors seemingly wouldn't open & jumping around boundaries was necessary to continue with the rest of the journey. No restart attempted. In the penultimate level of the same world, no forcefield effect was around the Sorceress as you accompany her.
-- During the final boss fight, in the latter phases, several enemies or hazards were invisible as the player kept taking damage in certain spots for no reason. Eddy's last phase wouldn't shrink down all the way & the cylinder counter appeared stuck at 21/100. Continuing to shoot the character eventually allowed the count to progress and the end of the battle cut straight into the ending cutscene (which repeated twice).
