Test Notes:
Upon launching the game, the console will prompt a dialogue that tells you to connect to the internet. It can be skipped and the game launches in the background anyway.
During the campaign on the second site, the game doesn’t let you build freely despite buildings and paths being unlocked already. Unsure if this is intentional.
During the same site, in the beginning, the game teaches you to send an exploration to a specific place. Upon selecting a scientist to meet the requirements, the “start expedition” button remains greyed out and the button prompt can’t be used. After exiting and entering the respective menu several times, the exploration seemed to have been started automatically. The screen of the exploration still didn’t show the scientist being used, but we weren’t able to start another expedition manually either.
After the expedition seemingly returned, the tutorial tells you to extract genomes from fossils. However, the corresponding screen says there are no fossils.
During the tutorial at the second site, you are meant to construct viewing galleries. At first, we couldn’t place it along the fence of an enclosure due the dinosaurs sleeping too close to the marked area you need to place the viewing gallery in. We placed it slightly further away, resulting in the viewing gallery not having a power connection. The game doesn’t let you place a generator, neither did the tool to destroy the viewing gallery work at first. Only after button mashing for several seconds, the viewing gallery was destroyed and we were able to build it in a spot that checked the task.
In some rare cases, the game simply doesn’t let you select dinosaurs or buildings. You have to zoom in and out a bit or switch to a different overview to actually select.
Equally, the game sometimes doesn’t let you place buildings despite nothing getting in the way. Switch to menus or button mash until it works.
AI sometimes stops working. Encountered multiple occasions in which a dino simply wouldn’t move and had to be healed repeatedly because it was starving. Seems to be an eventuality in very long playsessions (>3-4 hours). Restarting/reloading fixes this.
Pathfinding for AI vehicles can be extremely weird. Instead of driving directly towards an objective, the vehicle would take a quarter circle to the side, sometimes even needlessly entering enclosures and then performing their task through the fence. In other instance, seemingly after a certain time had passed, pathfinding stopped working for rangers and maintenance vehicles. You can drive to all targets manually just fine and there seems to be nothing getting in the way. However, the game will show continuous error messages that vehicles can’t find a path to a certain target and it will be skipped on their patrol.
Maintenance patrols sometimes don’t check buildings despite them being in the proximity of a maintenance post and needing maintenance. Aviary enclosures seem to be affected more than other buildings.
The game is very prone to crashing the longer you play.
Generally, the longer you play, the higher the probability that certain systems won’t work. For example, during an Asian park scenario in the campaign the interface stopped displaying the correct reputation in certain tasks. The main mission would show the goal of reaching a certain reputation as 56/60, while the actual reputation counter below had already been showing 57 for the past hour.
Similarly, the game suddenly started to pop up warnings for different areas of guest satisfaction, despite all areas being at 100 % in the management menu. In one case three amenities suddenly showed no profit and no guests when hovering over them, but the overall satisfaction and profit numbers remained unchanged in the management overview.
Despite changing its genome, Tyrannosaurus Rex always seems to receive the hyper-aggressive trait.
During the campaign scenario on the Azores you are tasked with creating a cohabitation of 4 species twice. Despite clearing it early in the scenario for a task, the final task (and the overall goal for five stars) only counts 3 species despite 4 being in the same enclosure the entire time.
The game constantly changes the width of paths back to small.
When looking at that park through the management view, the cursors sometimes randomly snaps to certain buildings.
