Test Notes:
The larger environments and dense NPC populations in Hawaii frequently cause noticeable frame-rate drops, often dipping into the low 20s during traversal. Most likely due to the strain on the Base PS4’s already-limited CPU. Ijincho performs more consistently, though minor dips still occur, and Kamurocho is the most stable of the three locations.
There was a moment in Chapter 5 where the game gives you the option to either explore the city at night or go to bed to push the story forward. In this playthrough of the disc build, Kasuga simply couldn’t exit the building, so exploring wasn’t possible. We went to bed instead to continue the story, and once it moved to the next morning, everything worked normally from that point on.
We also noticed a couple of typos and grammatical errors in the game’s English subtitles. These also show up in the PS5 and Xbox Series X disc builds, so it seems to be part of the 1.00 script across platforms rather than something specific to the PS4 version.
Overall, the game is fully playable offline from the disc. You’ll see constant performance dips in Hawaii on the base PS4, and there’s a chance of encountering the Chapter 5 progression bug (which is easy to bypass), along with a few small text mistakes. But none of these issues prevent the game from being completed normally without downloading any patches.
