Test Notes:
※ In the 'Extras' section, multiple categories offer content that predominantly requires additional purchases through the online PS Store. This includes most character costumes, the "Secrets of the Spiral" expansion pass and other "Little Nightmares" games. Pressing 'X' to buy anything prompts an error code that appears when attempting to access without an active network connection.
Co-op mode appears to require a network subscription as well.
-- At least two occasions where odd environmental lighting flashed for a second, such as during the wide shot in the candy factory as the hydraulic clam shell bucket dumps sweets in the background.
-- Framerate slowdown was noticeable throughout the experience with very, very few moments that lead to 'skips' in the gameplay. It often occurs during elaborate animation sequences, such as large limbs moving through the level which can result in the visuals having a lower-quality, pixelated effect to them.
-- During the third chapter, "Carnevale," there's a puzzle section near the end in which both player characters are captured by an antagonist. With the A.I. controlling Alone, she rotates a lever off to the side that moves a suspended box containing Low. The dangling animation as the box moved was very jittery although all necessary actions to continue gameplay carried on without issues.
-- One collectible trophy, "Institutionalized," for finding all six ghosts during the fourth chapter appears to be slightly bugged. Some misinformation online has lead this issue to suggest that only five ghosts exist during "The Institute" level due to it registering early with the fifth chronological ghost. It appears on a bench to the upper right corner inside a room that requires Alone to break part of a wall that opens a hole for Low to enter through. During the initial playthrough, the player missed the fifth collectible as a result of an incomplete video guide and the trophy failed to pop finding the other five-out-of-six spirits. However, it did unlock after finding the aforementioned fifth ghost during a quick pick-up using chapter select. Unsure whether just picking it up was enough to collect it or re-collecting all of the previous ghosts helped in the process.
-- A potential soft-lock was encountered during the quick-pick attempt using the chapter select. When playing through with the A.I. using Low in the fourth chapter, the player hopped through a broken glass door during the 'temporal displacement doll / elevator battery' section too early which caused the A.I. to drop the battery instead of tossing it through the opening to continue progress. Consequently, the A.I. never returned to normal function after climbing through the door after the player. While the player was able to pick up the slack for the puzzle section, the error caused the A.I. companion to be non-functional in the final boss fight which requires the bow-and-arrow attack to progress. This results in the character just standing around to be killed by the scripted boss attack that operates almost like a quick-time event. Reloading the last checkpoint failed to fix it so restarting the whole chapter will likely need to be done to address the problem.
Content Completed:
-- Beaten single player campaign as the character 'Low' on default settings with 'Performance' mode. All collectible dolls found for its respective trophy and the secret 'true' ending. All attempted trophies unlocked as necessary. A complete single player playthrough as 'Alone' was untested for reference.
