Test Notes:
※ As noted on the PS Store, this release was "converted from the original PlayStation 2 version for the PS4 system. Consequently, there may be times where the title plays differently from the PS2 version, or where some features may not function properly. This version does not support PS2 peripherals, therefore some functionality may not be available." It was originally made available as part of the "PS2 on PS4" program, a continuation from the "PS Classics" project on the PS3 / Vita digital store, where each entry was meant to operate at an upscaled, higher resolution with ideally better performance alongside trophy support instead of being a straight-forward port of their initial release. The standard physical packaging includes a folded safety warning insert.
-- No significant issues were encountered over the course of a single playthrough. Technical shortcomings that were present in the original releases, such as slowdown / framerate drops (ex. excessive on-screen animations and/or enemy activity), flickering sprites (ex. occasional overlapping enemy animations, black line tears alongside a helicopter during stage of "Metal Slug 5"), infrequent / delayed loading screens from the compilation framework and low-screen resolution, are likely retained in these ports in conjunction with it being a converted sixth-generation era compilation.
Content Completed:
-- All games beaten on default settings when applicable. All attempted trophies unlocked as necessary. "Metal Slug" was completed with the 'Single Player' ending, the 'Good / Escape' ending for "Metal Slug 4", and the 'Rootmars' ending for "Metal Slug 6" on 'Hard' difficulty. All other alternate endings for the aforementioned games, along with any co-op modes, were untested for reference.
Additional Notes:
-- Install Size: 860.3 MB
-- Game List: *Everything except the sixth mainline release runs on Neo Geo AES emulation which will hereby be simplified to "NEO" below for illustration purposes.
