A 99GB update (as of launch) is required to play most game modes including things like Mamba Moments, MyNBA, and WNBA. The only things playable without the update are Quick Play and 2KU.
All of the regular NBA teams seem to be on disc at least, but absolutely nothing besides that.
All audio commentary is missing, as well as many of the ambient sound effects making games feel very empty
MyCareer and MyTeam require internet even if you do have the update installed
