Test Notes:

  • Rare occasions where loading from a checkpoint will start a game-play session with sluggish frame-rate performance. Either dying from stage hazards or manually restarting from your latest save data will often correct the issue.
  • A single instance of heavily sluggish frame-rate during the course of a single base game play-through. During the first chapter, while fighting one of the first segments with multiple enemy waves, the performance suddenly dropped into choppy, albeit fast, presentation. The issue lasted between 10-to-15 seconds, including after the aforementioned section had been completed, before immediately shifting back into normal game-play. Very minor frame-rate slowdown can also be present during select cut-scene effects, such as the camera panning over a cityscape or zoom-in close-up shots for a point of interest.
  • A single instance of a crash occurred over the course of a single expansion play-through. It played out with choppy frame-rate performance almost similar to the previous issue, but the controller input was extremely laggy and happened through a strange progression bug. In the final stretch of stages before the final DLC boss, there's a small section prior to a part that involves using three cart tracks to avoid plasma lasers and spawning turrets. On the right hand side of the area are two heavy turret bots across the upper and lower sections. While destroying those machines, moving to the right side spawns multiple flying turrets and one of them remained on-screen after being defeated. It caused the right half of the stage to become disjointed in the frame-rate whenever the player would venture over to that side and it kept the player from being able to successfully gun-jump to an upper ledge to continue progression. Starting from a new checkpoint still triggering a frame-rate issue while all enemies were still on-screen and dying to enemy fire caused the game app to close. After restarting the game, no further issues occurred in subsequent attempts.
  • Minor grammatical errors and formatting oddities with the English translation. For example, certain effects, like floating letters, appear to have an infrequent lack of spacing when placed next to normal dialogue text.

Content Completed:

  • The physical packaging for the 'Signal Redux' edition features a reversible cover. It also includes the free DLC expansion, "A Haunted Day", on cartridge.
  • Completely playable offline with no download required. Beaten on default settings in 'Docked' mode with 'Normal' difficulty for both the 'Good' and 'Bad' endings while the "Haunted Day" expansion was finished on 'Rookie (Normal)' difficulty.
  • "Speedrun" mode and the other unlockable difficulties were left untested for reference.
  • In the opinion of this tester, the standard setting appears to be heavily unbalanced with notable difficulty spikes occurring from the mid-point of the base game onward along with select points in the expansion. For instance, one "timed" chase sequence in the main game only offers about two-to-three seconds maximum for error before technically becoming an unbeatable run. It might be worth bumping down to 'Easy' difficulty to curve back the challenge that arguably borders on near perfectionist or speed-run execution.
