Test Notes:
The entire main story mode is playable offline. PVP Battles and Salmon Run matches can be played offline via Local Wireless or a LAN connection by visiting the Shoal building.
Most of the progression outside of the story mode is quite limited when playing offline. It is possible to earn a limited number of gear items for multiplayer battles by playing the story mode or scanning amiibo, however most of the game’s items are locked behind the item shops, who require you to level up in the online lobby before you will be allowed to shop there. As a result, you will mostly be stuck with a small selection of gear if you only want to play local multiplayer.
The cart build includes all eight of the multiplayer maps that were available at launch, but there were some additional maps added in post-launch updates.
Attempting to enter the online lobby will give you a hardcoded message saying “To play this mode, connect to the Internet and update to the latest version”, however this mode requires internet to access even with updates.
No bugs or issues were encountered during testing.
