Tested by Community Report on Base PS5
Also tested on:
-- Triggering cut-scenes / tutorial text can disrupt any incidental character audio in progress. This might result in rare occasions where NPCs can have talking animations despite the lack of dialogue.
-- Minor moments with noticeable framerate slowdown (ex. introduction cut-scene for the first Thing boss fight, etc.) Insignificant texture pop-in was faintly observed during some scene transitions, like a burning flare appearing just a second before the video sequence of Child's body or quick shots of Scuttler creatures sitting within the surrounding environment.
-- Select technical oddities appear to have been retained from the original release, such as clipping monster appendages through closed doors, etc.
-- During the third level, "Norwegian Outpost - South", the protagonist Captain Blake fell about knee-deep into the floor of the first wooden shed upon entering. Walking around briefly, particularly stepping outside & back into it, corrected the issue.
-- On the level "Strata Maintenance", inside the space with a multi-switch platform that corresponds to several numbered doors in the vicinity, the interior of a storage room in the corner momentarily disappeared from a distance after leaving with its respective entrance open. It left a grayish void with some faraway pre-loaded textures visible before swapping back to normal as the player approached.
-- Close to the end of level "Weapons Lab", Blake appeared to struggle stepping onto the stacked boxes at the top of a hazardous upward slop segment. They lead into a vent which connects with a cave containing an elevator previously seen at the beginning of the mission. Strangely, Blake wouldn't step into the ventilation shaft as he kept slipping back-and-forth off the sides of the boxes. After doing the process several times, Blake finally entered as intended.
-- At least two occasions where Blake would step onto a slightly elevated flooring, such as a box lid in the tunnel section or a base for industrial equipment, & become partly unresponsive. His character model would freeze up yet continue to slide almost like forward momentum & the player could still move the camera angle as necessary. It would last for a few seconds before slipping back onto normal ground & stepping back onto the odd surface would typically fail to reproduce the problem.
-- During the last handful of missions, an odd phenomenon happened several times where a "secondary" weapon wouldn't be remembered when trying to flip through your last two equipped guns with the right directional button. Typically, the flamethrower would remain while the tester's choice of the MP5 sub-machine gun would act like it wasn't equipped. Re-selecting the weapon would often restore it back into the quick-swap system.
Content Completed:
-- Beaten on 'Normal' difficulty with default settings except for disabling the motion control sensor feature. 100% platinum trophy status achieved.
Additional Notes:
-- Install Size: 2.48 GB
-- The remastered version features new technical enhancements, such as a readjusted 'fear / trust' system, dynamic lighting along with additional nods to film or period-accurate continuity (ex. the character of Nauls from the original 1982 film replaces a generic scientist corpse in the opening level, altering military attire for historical validity, etc.) The end credits theme from the initial game release, rock band Saliva's "After Me" from the album "Every Six Seconds" (2001), has been replaced with a generic track.
