Test Notes:

Tested both handheld and docked modes.

The “Hearts of Stone” and “Blood and Wine” expansions are on the game card, along with smaller DLCs that were offered for free at launch.

Handheld mode runs at a significantly higher resolution compared to original Switch, upgrading the typical 456p-540p output to a constant 720p (which is the uppermost bound of the dynamic resolution threshold).

Docked mode also runs at a constant 720p, which is a more modest upgrade of the original Switch’s 540p-720p docked resolution.

The framerate sees a slight improvement as well, especially the demanding city areas such as Novigrad and Beauclair. They now run at a stable 30 FPS.

After lengthy play sessions (over an hour) certain issues can appear that would be absent otherwise.

Random crashes are likely to occur after around 80 minutes of constant gameplay. These crashes don’t corrupt the save files and auto-saves are frequent enough that not much progress is lost, but they are a slight annoyance.

Certain menu elements such as the high resolution version of the game map and parts of Gwent cards fail to load properly sometimes after lengthy sessions.

Nude scenes are censored in the game, though downloading the latest patch seems to uncensor everything.

Features that were added post-launch such as touch screen support for inventory management and sharpening filters are missing from this version.

Despite these problems the game remains very playable and enjoyable.
